Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Champions Akwa United have embarked on a three-day closed camping in Omoku, Rivers State ahead of this weekend’s TotalEnergies CAF Champions League (TotalEnergiesCAFCL) first leg preliminary round match against CR Belouizdad of Algeria.

An Akwa United contingent comprising of twenty-nine players, six coaches and other backroom staff arrived Omoku on Monday morning where they hope to intensify their preparations ahead of the game.

The Kennedy Boboye coached side will play at least one friendly encounter while in Omoku as they hope to make an impactful debut in Africa’s premier competition, the CAF Champions League.

The Promise Keepers have been training at the Ikot Ekpene Stadium since they resumed for the new football season last month and have played two friendly games against fellow champions league campaigners, Rivers United.

The Promise Keepers will return to Uyo on Thursday 9th September, to finalise their preparations for the September 12th game at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, the Nest of Champions.

United’s opponents, Chabab Belouizdad are expected to fly into Nigeria on Thursday ahead of Sunday’s game which is expected to kick off at 3pm Nigerian time. The return leg takes place a week later.
