Banyana Banyana of South Africa lost to Botswana and have been eliminated from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Botswana went through 3-2 on penalties at the Orlando Stadium.

The first leg of the fixture ended goalless in Botswana couple of weeks ago as South Africa hoped to wrap things up back home but it wasn’t to be as Botswana stood their ground to go through.

The home side came out all guns blazing, creating chances after chances but were denied on a couple of occasions by the Botswana goalkeeper while they also failed to make the other chances count.

In the 73rd minute, Mamello Makhabane came really close for South Africa with a free kick which rattled the crossbar but it was not to be for the South Africans as the game stretched on to extra time and penalties after both sides failed to score.
