Coach Vincent Unogwu said Team Nile Beach Volleyball teams are intensifying preparations ahead of the President Cup. The 2020 President Beach Volleyball Cup and U19 Boys and girls will hold from 19th to 23rd February, 2020 at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

Unogwu told www.aclsports.coM that his players will give established and other senior players a run for their money.

The Kada Emeralds coach said beach volleyball coaches, scouts and spectators will be pleased with the style of play to be exhibited by the young and promising players.

He said, “The senior beach team is made up of two of our very tall players both 6ft plus. I think Isaac Ayuba and Josiah Obiajeh can compete with any pair, because both of them have basic beach volleyball training.

“The training have been on for some times now and I strongly believe that even if they did not win, they will give the senior team a run for their money as well as displaying of beautiful performances from both team”.

He added that; “I have faith that the national beach volleyball coaches and scouts will see the potential in them. The President Cup will be used as a statement to prove to the world that beach volleyball has come to stay in Nigeria”.

He revealed that his side is among the few states that train frequently on Beach Volleyball court.

He said, “So far so good, we are the only team except recently I think Rivers state where we have a beach volleyball court (The Musa Nimrod Beach Volleyball Development Center Jikwoyi) where players go out on regular basis to train beach volleyball.

“We have been looking forward for such a competition, it is the only way to democratize beach volleyball; we have seen very few people a with regular faces playing beach volleyball, I think is time we expand participation both for the senior and junior category”
