Nigeria beach volleyball duo, Pamela Bawa and Joy Lawrence, have been eliminated from the ongoing Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games after losing 2-0 to the Netherlands on Tuesday in the quarter-finals, reports www.aclsports.com.

The pair, who defeated Egypt on Sunday, lost 21-14, 21-16 to the Dutch duo of Jara Both and Matilda de Groot at Saly Beach West.

The Nigerians battled through the round of 16 with a win over Thailand on Monday, before losing out in the quarterfinals to the superior Dutch team. The Dutch duo of Both and de Groot extended their perfect run at the tournament without dropping a set, securing their place in the semi-finals as they continue their quest for a podium finish.

The defeat ended Nigeria’s campaign in the girls’ beach volleyball event, leaving the duo without a chance to compete for a medal.

Meanwhile, Team Nigeria’s Matthew Kuti and Favour Ojo have crashed out of the table tennis event at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games after suffering defeats in their respective final preliminary-round matches in Senegal.

Despite missing out on the knockout rounds in the singles event and suffering a Round of 16 mixed doubles defeat alongside teammate Matthew Kuti, Nigeria's Ojo Favour leaves Dakar with plenty of positives. 🇳🇬

Kuti, who is also Nigeria‘s deputy captain, suffered a 3-0  crushing defeat to Italy’s Francesco Trevisan, ending his hopes of making it to the knockout stages of the competition. In a similar fashion, Ojo also suffered a third defeat in a group of four players to exit the competition.

Nigeria’s campaign in the table tennis singles events has come to an end following their exits, leaving the country without representation in the competition.
