The Super Eagles of Nigeria are back in business, after a wonderful second half performance earned them a deserved 2-0 win over Iceland in Russia.
It was Nigeria’s second game of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and they needed nothing but victory following that disappointing loss to Croatia in the opening game.
After a dull first half which saw the Eagles record zero shots, the Nigerians, led by Ahmed Musa, turned on the screws to blow off their Icelandic counterparts after the break.
Musa netted two beautiful goals, including his second, a wonderful solo effort which saw him e past a sea of Iceland defenders, before rounding up the goalkeeper to calmly put the game beyond the European.
That victory saw Nigerians take to their social media accounts to react to what is a crucial win for the nation.
Here are some of the best reactions;
We start off with these tweets which aptly captured the display of captain, John Mikel Obi, who returned to his defensive midfield role.
Now, to the praises, proud Nigerians everywhere.
But hold on, who got the loudest cheers? Of course, Musa must be in cloud nine right now, Nigerians know how to praise someone sha.
And more Musa eulogies…
This Nigerian surely has a different President right now, and he’s not alone.
Success indeed has many friends, as these two accounts prove.
Meanwhile, if you think only Twitter users are celebrating, then, say hello to Facebookers.
While Nigerians are busy celebrating, the players are already looking forward to the last game against giants, Argentina, on Tuesday.
And a final message to Nigerians from the players; KEEP SHAKU SHAKU-ING INTO THE NIGHT!
