The Indomitable Lionesses will now touch down in Lagos on Friday evening, following finalised travel arrangements late Thursday. The 19-player squad, featuring stars from the domestic league and overseas-based professionals, will head straight to their base in Ijebu-Ode.

Cameroon’s participation had been in doubt due to internal administrative challenges within the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT). However, those issues have now been resolved, paving the way for the team to honour their fixtures against Nigeria.

The two matches are part of Nigeria’s build-up to the 2024 WAFCON in Morocco, as the Super Falcons strive for a record-extending 10th crown. For Cameroon, absent from this year’s tournament for the first time in history, the fixtures signal the start of their rebuild ahead of the 2026 WAFCON qualifiers.

The fixtures also revive a historic rivalry. Of their 20 previous encounters, Nigeria leads with 14 wins, while Cameroon has managed three victories, with three draws. The Super Falcons have dominated recent meetings, winning eight of the last eleven, including key WAFCON and Olympic qualifiers.
