Former champions Enyimba and Shooting Stars have been knocked out of this year’s President Federation Cup on Wednesday, www.aclsports.com reports.

Round of 16 matches were decided on Wednesday across the Federation and it was a day of upsets.

Enyimba faced Sokoto United at the FIFA goal project pitch in Abuja and they lost 1-0. The Aba Elephants missed two penalties through skipper Ojo Olorunleke and Joseph Atule during the game.

Elsewhere in Abuja, Shooting Stars also lost 1-0 to second division side Elkanemi Warriors. Al- Amin Umar scored the winning goal seven minutes from time.

Ten-man Inter Lagos defeated Ikorodu City on penalties in Akure to win the clash of the Lagos sides. Ayomide Cole got the game’s opening goal in the first half before Tony Obia scored the equalizer for the side in Pink before they went on to win 5-4 in the shootout.

In an all-NPFL encounter, Sunshine Stars defeated Rivers United 1-0 in Abuja. Lucky Nwafor’s eight minute goal was the difference as Andy Okpe missed a spot-kick for the Pride of Rivers.

Also in Abuja, Kebbi United shocked 2017 winners Akwa United 1-0 to book their spot in the last eight. The Northern derby between Katsina United and Kano Pillars was decided on penalties after it finished 1-1, as Sai Masu Gida March on.

Round of 16 matches are billed to hold on a yet to be announced date next month.
