The Nigeria Premier Football League high-flyers secured their berth in the final four courtesy of Shola Adelani’s second half penalty goal. Despite Leonard Ngenge’s sending off after the hour mark, the Lagos side did well to hold on and book their spot. It is the first time the Oga Boys will be reaching the final four since the formation of the club.

In addition, former Champions Rangers defeated Plateau United 1-0 to also book their spot in the semifinals of the tournament. Chidozie Okorie’s first half goal was all the Flying Antelopes needed to edge their fellow NPFL campaigners.

Meanwhile, Kwara United came from behind to beat Akwa United in Enugu. The 2017 champions led twice through Endurance Ebedebiri and Emmanuel Ini before the Harmony Boys got on level terms via Wasiu Alalade’s brace. No goals were scored again as the game went to penalty shootout at the end of regulation time, where Kwara United triumphed 5-3 to seal thier place in the semifinals.

In the final quarterfinal game, second division side Abakaliki FC beat Nasarawa United on penalties to reach the final four. The game finished 1-1 in regulation time, before the Ebonyi club went ahead to win 5-4 in the shootout.

Following the completion of the quarterfinals stage, the President Federation Cup will return in two weeks time for the semifinals.
