Osimhen, who suffered a fractured right forearm during a 4-0 loss to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League back in March, returned to training recently, often wearing a protective cast. He was sent on late in the game, but they were knocked out by the 15th-placed side at Rams Park.

Gençlerbirliği broke the deadlock shortly after the restart as Firatcan Uzum was quickest to pounce on a loose ball in the area and fired home in the 51st minute.

From that moment on, Galatasaray pushed for an equaliser, as Ahmed Kutucu seeing a close-range effort saved before Wilfried Singo saw his goal ruled out for offside. In a bid to get back in the game, Osimhen was introduced for Renato Nhaga in the 78 minute.

However, Adama Traoré wrapped up the win five minutes after Osimhen’s introduction, tapping home from close range after reacting quickest to a rebound to put Gençlerbirliği 2-0 ahead. Despite a late surge from the hosts, the visitors held on to secure a place in the semi-finals.

The defeat brought an end to Galatasaray’s impressive 10-game unbeaten streak in the Turkish Cup.
