African champions Nigeria’s Super Falcons eased to a 3-0 win over Senegal, with Joy Omewa scoring a brace in their second international friendly on Monday, www.aclsports.com reports.
Joy Omewa scored twice and Asisat Oshoala also found the net as the Super Falcons produced a dominant second-half display to secure another convincing win over the Teranga Lionesses at the Remo Stars Stadium.
The starting lineup saw several changes from the previous encounter, with head coach Justin Madugu recalling Chiamaka Nnadozie in goal. Rofiat Imuran, Rinsola Babajide, Joy Omewa, and Gift Monday were also included in the rotation.
Nigeria dominated possession and controlled the tempo but found Senegal’s compact defence difficult to break down. The Super Falcons created the better chances through Gift Monday and Joy Omewa, who was denied by the woodwork, but they went into the break level after failing to convert their opportunities.
The breakthrough arrived early in the second half. In the 49th minute, Shukurat Oladipo delivered a fine cross into the box, which Omewa met with a powerful header to put Nigeria ahead, her first international goal. The forward doubled her tally later in the half with a composed finish inside the area to extend the lead.
Nigeria remained in control and added a third in the 66th minute when Ajibade drove forward and picked out substitute Asisat Oshoala, who finished calmly to make it 3-0.
