Nigeria Cadet goalkeeper, Obinna Okwor has begun preparations ahead of next month’s IHF Challenge trophy in Kosovo. The IHF Challenge trophy will be held from 10th to 14th April, 2019

Okwor who stole the show against Future Pro on Tuesday said he is using the National U18 and U21 Championship to prepare for the World Cup too.

He told www.aclsports.com that he was invited to make the Rising Stars team stronger.

The Idah Pillars goalkeeper said, “I was brought into the team (Rising Stars) to make them stronger and I thank God I did my best from stopping Future Pro from winning. We played against Future Pro and won 29-14 after losing to Kwara by 32-17 points in our first game.

“I have a championship next month; I am seriously preparing for it because I intending bringing the trophy home and with my team mates, I know we can do it”.

Okwor said playing from Nigeria and watching senior goalkeepers at last year’s Prudent Energy Handball League also helped him grow.

He said, “Immediately I returned from Morocco where we qualified for the World Cup last year, I commenced training. I came to the 2018 Prudent Energy Handball League to under study other senior national goalkeeper as a spectator.

“I put into practice what I watched in the league with my coaches correcting me because of the upcoming IHF Challenge trophy in Kosovo as well as the World Cup in Macedonia”.
