Nyangh: Our ambition is the World Cup ticket

The captain of Nigeria women’s senior handball team, Dorathy Nyangh said the ambition of the team is to qualify for the 2021 IHF World Women’s Handball Championship in Spain.

The national women’s handball senior team departed the country on Thursday for the 24th edition of the African Women’s Handball Nations Cup in Yaoundé, Cameroon from 8th to 18th June, 2021.

Nyangh told www.aclsports.com that the team is well prepared and not attended the prestigious Nations Cup for jamboree.

The Benue Queens player said, “The most important ambition of the team is to pick the world cup ticket and be in Spain next December. The team is well prepared otherwise, what are we going to Cameroon for.

“I believed that with what we have received from our coaches, we are good to go and prepared. We are not going to the Nation’s Cup for jamboree, we want to make names for ourselves and make the country proud”.

Nyangh said the Handball Federation of Nigeria is doing everything possible to restructure and rebrand the national teams.

She told www.aclsports.com that the current players are hungry for glory.

She said, “The team is a combination of young, hungry players and experienced players. The Handball Federation of Nigeria is trying to restructure the team and the younger players can bring a lot to the team because they have been attending various championship and the senior players will carry them along”.

Nigeria attended her last African Women’s Handball Nations Cup 27 years ago in Tunisia.
