The Nigeria Women Football League has suspended Teslimot Balogun of Pacesetter Queens and Busari Suliyat of Ekiti Queens following a post-match incident at their Matchday 15 fixture at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti, www.aclsports.com reports.
The match, played on April 15, 2026, ended 2–0 in favour of Ekiti Queens but was overshadowed by chaotic scenes at full-time involving players from both sides.
Both players were identified as central figures in an altercation that broke out immediately after the final whistle. The situation escalated on the pitch before officials and team handlers intervened to restore order.
According to the league body, disciplinary action followed a review of the referee’s report, the match commissioner’s findings, and available video evidence. The NWFL concluded that both players engaged in violent conduct and brought the game into disrepute.
As a result, each player has been handed a two-match suspension with immediate effect, starting from Matchday 16 of the ongoing season.
NWFL Chief Operating Officer Modupe Shabi reiterated the league’s zero-tolerance stance on indiscipline and violence, stressing that such behaviour will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
She warned that further incidents of misconduct could attract more severe sanctions, including longer suspensions, as the league continues to prioritise the integrity of the competition and the safety of all participants.
The league also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline and professionalism across all venues as the 2025/2026 NWFL Premiership season progresses.
