NWFL Premiership champions Edo Queens have qualified for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League after defeating Ampem Darkoa Ladies 4-1 on penalties in the WAFU-B final on Saturday, www.aclsports.com reports.
Edo Queens came from behind twice at the Stade du 4 Août before securing victory in the penalty shootout to win the WAFU-B title and qualify for the CAF Women’s Champions League for the second time.
The final kicked off 90 minutes late due to adverse weather conditions, with Ampem Darkoa taking the lead in the first minute through Beline Nyarko. Edo Queens responded from the restart, with Dooshima Tarnum equalising for her third goal of the tournament.
Ampem Darkoa regained the lead in the 73rd minute through Nyarko’s penalty, but substitute Oluebube Umejiaku equalised in the fourth minute of added time for her second goal of the tournament, taking the match into a shootout.
Atume Doosuur, Valentina Uroko and Zaniab Olopade converted for Edo Queens, while goalkeeper Ademola Morufat saved Rabiatu Maltiti’s penalty. Millot Pokuaa missed for Ampem Darkoa, with Nyarko converting before Ifeoma Ikenokwalu scored the final penalty to seal victory for Edo Queens.
Oluwakemi Adegbuyi was named Player of the Tournament, while Doosuur finished as the top scorer with four goals.
