The 2018 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) winner is set to be decided this weekend as the top four teams battle it out at the Super 4 tournament  taking place at Agege Soccer Temple, Lagos.

The first set of games will go down on Friday as defending champions, Nasarawa Amazons face-off with AITEO Cup champions, Rivers Angels in the second game of the day for a chance to progress to the finals.

Ahead of Friday’s meeting, both teams have prepared for what many would say should have been the final of the tournament but there is no doubt that there will be excitement as fireworks will be expected from both teams who have a healthy rivalry going on between them.

Talking about the rivalry between both clubs Nasarawa Amazons defender Sarah Nnodim said “Our first game is against Rivers Angels and this is a team we have an healthy rivalry with. They are a very good side and we need to be wary of them.Nevertheless we are prepared to win the game.

“I still think we are the favourites to lift the title in Lagos. We respect the other teams but still feel we owe ourselves a lot as a team. We want to win for our fans, manager and also for ourselves. We want to pull out records by winning more titles,” the defender added.

Meanwhile head coach of Rivers Angels who are also champions of the AITEO Cup said “The match is not different from other matches. Ours is just to come on the pitch and do what we can do and just see how we can take our chances.

He then added that it doesn’t matter what stage of the tournament both teams meet as all four teams in the  Super 4 are good. “The four teams that qualified for the Super 4 are all good teams anyday anytime and no one is a push over. So whichever team we play first, that’s how the draws have been made so we just have to try as much as we can and do our best.”

Rivers Angels qualified for the Super 4 behind Bayelsa Queens in Group A while Nasarawa Amazon’s qualified top of Group B and also with the highest point of all four teams.

This fixture will be a replay of last year’s Champions Shield in Lagos. It remains to be seen which of the teams will come out on top and progress to the finals for a chance to emerge 2018 NWFL Champions.
