Buildup to the 27th Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) Games continued on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the University of Jos (UNIJOS), Plateau State, with more teams arriving at the Naraguta Campus ahead of Saturday’s opening ceremony, www.aclsports.com reports.

Day 2 came alive across various venues, with basketball, tennis, and volleyball training sessions held outdoors, while scrabble athletes practiced inside the University library in preparation for their events.

Although some facilities are still under construction, visible progress is evident, with work ongoing to ensure readiness before the Games officially begin. The roofing of the Indoor Sports Hall remains incomplete, but competitions at the outdoor sporting areas have continued smoothly.

Around the campus, food vendors added to the vibrant atmosphere, while sponsors such as Milo and Keystone Bank contributed to the lively buzz.

Athletes from across the country used the day to train and adapt to Jos’ cool weather. Some, particularly those from the southwest, admitted that the cold climate has been challenging.

“The change of weather and environment is something we’re still getting used to,” one student-athlete shared. “People here are used to the cold, but we’re adapting.”

Still in buildup to NUGA 2025, some host university athletes noted that while training has been intense, the schedule has been physically demanding.

“The preparation has been tough, but we’re ready to give our best,” an athlete from UNIJOS added.

The opening ceremony takes place Saturday, November 8, with major events such as football, badminton, handball, and beach volleyball set to kick off afterward. The technical meeting was also held today.
