The Imo state Director of sports, Chizotam Aritola has threatened coaches and association secretaries who fail to sign the collection of N18,000 camping and festival allowances.

www.aclsports.com gathered that the threat was as a result of athletes rejecting the sum of N18,000 as the camping and festival allowances.

An athlete said most of the athletes planned to reject the peanuts but few athletes went behind to collect the funds.

She said there are rumours that Imo state government released 21 million naira for the event.

She said, “The Director of sports and other officials have refused to meet with the participating athletes. Instead, they compelled the coaches and secretaries to sign the cash.

“Well, the athletes have been having series of meetings and plans are underway to reject the N18,000 but the challenges we are having is that few have already started collecting it”.

“Another problem is that the contingent did not agree on a specific amount to be taken. Imo athletes left Omerri late due to the peaceful demonstration, which almost resulted in an assault on the commissioner of sports, Robertson Ekwebelem.

“Somehow, we were convinced to enter the bus that we will be settled at the venue but there are still unresolved issues”, he said.
