World record holder Tobi Amusan is ranked third in the latest women’s 100m hurdles world rankings as Masai Russell moves to the top, www.aclsports.com reports.
Amusan recently secured Nigeria’s first gold medal at the African Athletics Championships in Ghana before returning to the Diamond League circuit in China, where she finished third in Shanghai and second in Xiamen. She clocked 12.41s in Shanghai and a season’s best 12.28s in Xiamen.
Her performances lifted her points total from 1,379 to 1,385, leaving her behind new world number one Masai Russell and Grace Stark, who occupies second place with 1,386 points, just ahead of Amusan.
Russell moved to the summit of the standings after winning both Diamond League meetings in China, collecting 1,391 points following 12.25s in Shanghai and 12.14s in Xiamen.
Amusan will compete in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Rabat Diamond League on Sunday in a non-Diamond League scoring event, alongside Devynne Charlton, Ditaji Kambundji and Keni Harrison.
