A late first-half Samuel Anakwe goal canceled out Muritala Lawal’s opener for Dakkada as Remo Stars left the Godswill Akpabio Stadium with a point on Sunday. The result meant the Sky Blue Stars will stay top of the log for another week after results elsewhere went in their favour.

Defending Champions Akwa United slipped to a 2-0 loss to Nasarawa United in Lafia. Despite dominating the opening half of the game, Akwa United fell behind early in the second half as Michael Tochukwu handed the Solid Miners the lead. A late goal from last season’s golden boot winner Silas Nwankwo made the points safe and sent the Promise Keepers back empty-handed.

Elsewhere in Nnewi, Enugu Rangers hit four past Niger Tornadoes in a one-way show in the second half. Brace from Kenechukwu Agu set the tone for the win as Shedrack Asiegbu and Christian Nnaji added further strikes to complete the rout for Abdu Maikaba’s men.

In the heavyweight clash between Kano Pillars and Enyimba, it was Sai Masu Gida who won the bragging rights by beating the Aba Elephants 2-0 in Kaduna. A first-half penalty was converted by the ageless Rabiu Ali before Kokoette Udo wrapped up the win with a goal on the hour mark.

In Bauchi, Wikki Tourists strolled past MFM 3-0. Goals from Nelson Abiam, Isah Usman and Sale Ibrahim gave Kabiru Dogo’s side their second win of the season. Similarly, Fidelis Ilechukwu’s Plateau United defeated Heartland 3-0 in Jos courtesy of goals from Akila Jesse, Chimezie Izuchukwu and Mohammed Zulkifilu.

In Sunday’s most surprising result, Rivers United played out a goalless draw with winless Sunshine Stars in Port-Harcourt.

To complete the matchday four line up, Shooting Stars will host Katsina United in Ibadan on Monday as Lobi Stars will be guests of Gombe United at the Pantami Stadium while Abia Warriors will battle for points in Okigwe against Kwara United.
