In similar fashion, Enyimba beat Kano Pillars 2-0 in Aba. First half goals from Edidiong Ezekiel and John Bassey ensured the former champions put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Timothy Zachariah, hero in the CAF Champions League qualifier, scored the game’s only goal to help Rivers United beat Nasarawa United 1-0 in Port Harcourt.

It finished goalless between Elkanemi Warriors and Rangers in Maiduguri, as well as the game between Barau and Wikki Tourists in Kano. Meanwhile, Shooting Stars were also held to a 1-1 draw by Katsina United in Ibadan.

Earlier on Saturday, Bendel Insurance and Warri Wolves played out a 1-1 draw, while Kwara United beat defending champions Remo Stars 3-1 in Ilorin.

Outstanding matches between Remo Stars and Nasarawa United, as well the one between Bendel Insurance and Rivers United will be played this midweek.
