Technical adviser of NPFL side, Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, Salisu Yusuf has revealed his ambitions with the club, as the new season begins, www.aclsports.com reports.
Speaking to the club’s media ahead of the contest, the former Nasarawa United head coach noted that he is happy to be back in the city, as well as manage Shooting Stars, one of the traditional clubs in the league.
”I have been here with the national team back in 2023. So, I have good friends here, and it’s good to be back again. It’s like coaching the traditional teams as I did at Enyimba, Rangers and Kano Pillars. The expectation is usually high, and that will push someone to prove a point. I just hope we can leave a good legacy with the Ibadan football fans,” Yusuf said.

The former Super Eagles head coach had a brief stint in Benin last season before returning to the league, and when asked about the attraction to Shooting Stars, he said, ”I was attracted to the challenge of being on the continent and the club’s ambition to win the league. It’s a good environment for me. The set goals will drive me to get better results.”
”I’m here to take care of business and be better than last season. Looking at the three competitions [league, CAF Confederation Cup and Federation Cup] we will be participating in, we are going to be one of the serious contenders,” said Yusuf about the ambition of the team going into the new season.
”I am always flexible, but we will always push the players to the limits so that we can achieve better results. It will take time to reach the level I want, but the first match is usually hard, and there are so many expectations. The team has good potential, and we will continue to grow as the season progresses. The fans should be patient with us at the beginning,” Yusuf concluded.
Yusuf, who replaced Nurudeen Aweroro two weeks ago, will begin his reign as the new handler of the team against newly promoted Inter Lagos in the opening game of the season at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan on Friday.
