NPFL side Shooting Stars have announced the appointment of Salisu Yusuf as the club’s new technical adviser, www.aclsports.com reports.
The former CHAN Eagles handler takes over the role after the club mutually ended the agreement with erstwhile coach Nurudeen Aweroro.
In a club statement on Friday, Yusuf, who has previously worked at Enyimba, Rangers and Kano Pillars, will lead the club through the 2026/27 NPFL campaign and the CAF Confederation Cup.
“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Coach Salisu Yusuf as the club’s new Technical Adviser,” reads a statement from the club’s website.
“The experienced tactician arrives at the Oluyole Warriors with an impressive coaching pedigree spanning over two decades. Since beginning his managerial career with Nasarawa United in 2002, Yusuf has worked with several of Nigeria’s leading clubs, including Kano Pillars, Rangers International and Enyimba, and was most recently with Coton Sport in Benin.
“The club is confident that Coach Salisu Yusuf will bring strong leadership, tactical expertise and a winning mentality to the Oluyole Warriors as we pursue our ambitions across domestic and continental competitions,” the statement concluded.
Apart from managing clubs within and outside Nigeria, Salisu Yusuf served as an assistant coach of the Super Eagles and has also handled the Super Eagles B and Nigeria U-23 teams.
In 2018, he guided the home-based Super Eagles to the final of the CHAN tournament in Morocco.
Yusuf, a CAF A licensed coach, is expected to lead the Oluyole Warriors against Inter Lagos in their season opener before the CAF Confederation Cup first preliminary round match against CS Sfaxien.
