The experienced tactician replaces Usman Abdallah, who stepped down from the role in June due to personal reasons.
Ogenyi most recently worked with Rivers United, where he joined the coaching team for the 2023-24 NPFL season before his contract expired in June.
A holder of the CAF License A, CAF Intermediate Coaching Certificate, and FIFA High-Level Coaching Certificate, Ogenyi brings decades of experience to the Kano club. His coaching portfolio includes stints as Chief Coach and Technical Adviser at Enyimba International, Rivers United, and Nasarawa United, with successes spanning the NPFL, CAF Champions League, and Federation Cup.
Ogenyi’s primary task will be to restore Kano Pillars to title contention after their ninth-place finish last season.
