NPFL: Dele Aiyenugba joins Kwara United

Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Kwara United have completed the signing of former Super Eagles goalkeeper Dele Aiyenugba ahead of the 2020/21 season.

According to the Ilorin-based club, Aiyenugba, 36, who was last registered with Hapoel Afula returns to his home state club after thirteen years in Europe.

Before leaving Nigeria in 2007, Dele Aiyenugba recorded his name in the history books of the Nigerian and African football considering with some impressive achievements.

Aiyenugba played a crucial role in Enyimba’s CAF Champions League successes of 2003 and 2004 and made seventeen appearances with the Super Eagles.

“Kwara is my home and I am here to give my best to Kwara United and also sports loving people who are in this state,” Aiyenugba told Kwara United’s Media team.

Aiyenugba will provide more competition to Abdullahi Biffo’s Kwara United in the goalkeeping department which already has Emmanuel Iwu and Abdulateef Ishola.

In a related development, midfielder Afeez Nosiri has agreed to rejoin Kwara United from Niger Tornadoes after one season with the Mina based side in the Nigerian National League (NNL) so also Sunshine Stars midfielder Jide Fatokun.

Kwara United have also been linked with Warri Wolves star Abu Azeez who has also played for the club in the past as well as Adamawa United winger Eka Unegbe.
