Ajax technical director Jordi Cruijff has confirmed the club’s plan to secure Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare permanently after his strong start in the Netherlands, www.aclsports.com reports.
Arokodare, 25, has been in fine form since moving to the Dutch side on a season-long loan deal from Championship club Wolves. The striker has 13 goal contributions in 16 appearances for Ajax so far, and the club seems interested in keeping him beyond next summer.
“I don’t think so. Everything has already been arranged, including the salary too,” replies Cruijff, stating that he does not need to sit down with the striker and his management again for a potential permanent deal.
“He is doing well. When we signed him, there was a lot of talk about the fact that we were getting him from a relegated team. He has settled in well, has a good mentality, and is a team player. We hope he just keeps going,” the director added about the striker.
It goes to show the immense impact Arokodare has had at the club in his short time there so far. Recently, he led the club to a comprehensive win in the Europa Conference League, and it seems there is no stopping him at the moment.
Arokodare is expected to feature for Ajax in their next league game against Twente on Sunday before joining up with the Super Eagles ahead of next weekend’s AFCON qualifiers against Tanzania.
