Nigeria Premier Football League side Kano Pillars have announced the appointment of Muhammad Babaganaru as the club’s new acting head coach following the suspension of head coach Evans Ogenyi and his first assistant, Ahmed Garba Yaro, following a poor start to the 2025/26 campaign, www.aclsports.com reports.
“The management of Kano Pillars FC wishes to announce the appointment of Muhammad Babaganaru as the acting technical adviser of the club. He will resume with immediate effect. We wish Coach Babaganaru success in his new role as he leads the Sai Masu Gida in upcoming fixtures,” the club’s media and communications directorate stated in a statement on Tuesday.
Babaganaru, who led Pillars to two NPFL titles in 2012 and 2013, is vastly experienced in the Nigerian topflight. He has been tasked with the responsibility of getting Sai Masu Gida back to winning ways after their poor start to the season. Pillars currently sit 20th on the table after eight matches.
Meanwhile, the club had earlier announced the appointment of assistant coach Gambo Muhammad and goalkeeping coach Suleiman Shuaibu as the interim technical crew. However, with the approval of the appointment of Babaganaru, a reshuffling is expected to be carried out.
Babaganaru, who recently worked with Lobi Stars and Akwa United, is expected to lead Sai Masu Gida against Niger Tornadoes in their next home fixture this weekend.
