Midfielder Anietie Uko has told www.aclsports.com that he is ready to make a mark with his new club Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan as the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season commences this weekend.
Uko joined the Ibadan based club at the expiration of his two-year contract with Nigeria National League (NNL) side Vandrezzer FC early November.
The Akwa-Ibom born star has since settled well in his new environment during pre-season and if all things go as planned, he will be handed a starting berth by head coach Edith Agoye in their season opener at Gombe United on Sunday.
Uko who will thus be making his debut in the top flight this season says he is looking forward to it.
“The NPFL is a good platform and I intend to make the best out of it,” began Uko to www.aclsports.com
“I’m looking forward to the experience with so much positivity and desire to make a mark and promote my brand because my name is my brand,” he added.
Uko, known for his tenacity and effervescence in midfield was a fans favourite at Vandrezzer and he rose to the post of Vice-captain before joining the Oluyole Warriors.
He is fully aware of what it means to play for Shooting Stars and hopes the present crop of players can restore the club’s lost glory.
He continued: “Shooting Stars is a household name in Nigerian football with good history and we hope to bring back its glory days.’
“As a team, we have a target and that is to compete and not just partake in the league. We are aiming for the title or at least a continental ticket for the season,” he added.
Aside Anietie Uko, Shooting Stars have also added few more players to their ranks including former Enyimba stars Dare Olatunji and Wasiu Alalade.
