Head coach of Vandrezzer FC Development side Andrew Uwe has told www.aclsports.com that his side are not desperate for a promotion slot as they continue to campaign in the Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) zonal playoffs.

Vandrezzer are mid-table in their Port Harcourt centre after amassing four points from their first four games but the youthful side have caught the eyes of many neutrals with their brand of football.

Defeat to Nordic Academy in their last game meant that Vandrezzer must win their last three matches and hope that results elsewhere favour them to have a chance of winning the group.

Uwe, 53, is looking at the bright side of things.

“We’re not expecting anything special. If we qualify, okay. If we don’t qualify, building process continues,” began the former Green Eagles captain to www.aclsports.com

“The period of three months (I’ve spent with these boys), I saw a lot of improvements in the team. So, if we have it. We’ll take it. If we don’t, we move on,” he added.

An unfortunate characteristic of Uwe’s young side is a seeming second half meltdown which has seen his Vandrezzer wards concede all goals against them in the competition in second half of all their games.

Uwe believes it is part of his boys’ learning process which is necessary for their development in the game.

“Football is always different and the players have to learn it the hard way. That is football, who is clever is going to win. It’s the same story but you can see the difference; experience, NLO, most of them need to work hard to be there.

“It is good they can see their mistakes for themselves. Life picture so they know how it is. I talked about every thing from head to toe, how life is in football, body language, how to play safe but most of them never played at this level so they’re going to learn the hard way,” added the Gentle Giant, as Uwe was nicknamed during his playing days.

Vandrezzer FC will face Koluama United in their next game on Wednesday at the University of Port Harcourt High Performance Centre, host of the Port Harcourt zone.
