Musa Oshodi: Nigeria Judo to witness positive turnaround

The newly elected President of Nigeria Judo Federation, Dr Musa Oshodi has promised to change the fortunes of Judo in the country. Dr Oshodi stated this after he was declared President NJF at the election held at the indoor sports hall of MKO Abiola Stadium, Package B in Abuja on Thursday.

Dr Oshodi told www.aclsports.com that it is time for stakeholders to forget their differences and focus on how to revive Judo.

The South West Representative revealed that the board will ensure grassroots program are done across the country.

He said the current board members are looking at investing in the promotion of young Judokas who can take over from aging athletes.

Oshodi said, “Judokas have waited so long for this day and we are happy that the true owners of the game are now in charge. If you look critically at the composition of the board, you will see that every board member was a former Judoka. This means that the game of Judo will witness a positive turnaround.

“Nigeria has been missing at various International championships including the African Championship, World Championship, Commonwealth and Olympic Games. The board will ensure it partners with the private sector in ensure athletes get endorsements”.

“Most of our active Judokas have been participating in championships since the late 90’s, the board will focus on developing young athletes and giving them opportunities to feature at African Championship” Oshodi said.
