Remo Stars coach Daniel Ogunmodede has expressed his desire to win the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title,  www.aclsports.com reports.

The refined coach said this after overseeing his side’s comeback 2-1 win over Rangers at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Sunday.

Kazeem Ogunleye handed the flying Antelopes the lead inside ten minutes but Remo Stars equalised through leftback Seun Ogunribide ten minutes before the break. Minutes after the restart, Sikiru Alimi headed home a teasing cross from Sodiq Ismail to complete the turnaround.

Speaking to pressmen after the game, Ogunmodede emphasised on the need to take all three points.

“It was very important for us to win. It was our first league match and like I said in my pre-match conference, it’s tougher for us and easier for them because they’ve played their first league match already and they are in competition mode, while we were just coming on.

“The boys (Rangers) were well motivated, we know we were in for a battle and I’m happy at the end that we conquered.”

On his side’s next game against title challengers Rivers United in Port-Harcourt, Ogunmodede said the mentality is to come out, fight and win games.

“Every game we want to come and win, that’s my mentality for sure and Every game we want to compete and win – win all games.

I love the touch-line drama in Ikenne between Remo Stars coach, Daniel Ogunmodede and Rangers coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu.

They are serving us premium drama.

Remo Stars finished third in the 2021/22 season and missed out on the title by virtue of goal difference last season to Enyimba and Ogunmodede believes it’s time for a title challenge and hopes to win at the end of the season.

“Of course I’m going to go for the best, no pressure; I’m not settling for less, so I need to fight. I’m not scared to lose because of that now settle for less. I’m not a coward or do you want me to say I’m not going to win the league? I want to win the league,” the gaffer concluded.

Remo Stars will  face Rivers United in their rescheduled match day one fixture to be played at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Thursday.
