HC Butel of Macedonia player, Farouk Yusuf told www.aclsports.com that he wants to play at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Nigeria will play in group B with Angola, Gabon and Libya at the 24th edition of the Men’s Senior Handball Africa Nations Cup scheduled for 15th to 25th January, 2020 in Tunisia.

The tournament will also serve as African qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and 2021 World Championship in Egypt.

The former Mountada Derb Sultan player said he will fight tooth and nail for the country when they begin their campaign next year.

Yusuf said, “I want to play for Nigeria at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and I know my dreams will become a reality. When Nigeria women’s team played at the Barcelona 1992 Olympics, I was not born and only read about it; in fact some of the players who played for Nigeria still came to 2018 and 2019 Prudent Energy Handball League.

“This is a new generation of handball players and it is my wish that we are at the biggest sporting event next year. I know it is not going to be easy at the Nation’s Cup but with God on our side, we will shock the world”.

The former De Defenders player said it was painful not playing at the 2019 African Games in Morocco.

He said, “I was at the 2019 African Games but could not play but the consolation for me was that I just returned from the IHF Youth Championships. I watched how Nigeria lost to Egypt in the quarterfinals and I wished I could turn back the hands of time and influence the match”.
