The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) board has announced a preseason tournament for its representatives in this season’s CAF inter-club competitions.
The tournament will see the quartet of Rangers, Rivers United, Shooting Stars and Elkanemi Warriors feature alongside two wildcard teams in Plateau United and Mighty Jets.
According to the available information, the tournament will run from August 18–23, 2026.
NPFL champions Rangers and Rivers United will represent the nation in the CAF Champions League, while Shooting Stars and Elkanemi Warriors will be flying the nation’s flag in the CAF Confederation Cup.
In a bid to see Nigerian teams do well in the competition that begins in September, the board of the elite league has decided to host the tournament in Jos, Plateau State.
Meanwhile, the trio of Rivers United, Rangers and Shooting Stars are participating in the ValueJet preseason tournament in Ikenne, while Elkanemi, winners of the 2026 Federation Cup, are absent.
