National Champion, Ifeoluwa Ajayi told www.aclsports.com that he listened to the instructions ditched by his coach, Barrister Ahmad Adetola-Kazeem during his fights at the just concluded Nigeria Taekwondo International Open in Abuja.

Ajayi defeating Africa’s Number 2 and World Number 26th ranked athlete, Oumar Sissoko in the final of the men’s – 63kg.

Ajayi said, “It was God as well as the trust I have in my coach and my teammates. My coach gave me instructions and I listened attentively to him.

“I feel very happy winning the gold medal, after meeting very challenging opponents at the quarter finals to the finals. Winning the Most Valuable Player (male) at the tournament means a lot to me as a young athlete”.

Ajayi told www.aclsports.com that he did not allow the National ranking get into his head instead, he trained hard and worked on himself.

“Firstly, I did not really put the number one position on my mind so it will not get to my head. All I did was train hard and work on myself”.
