Remo Stars, who easily dispatched Comoros side US Zilimadjou in the first preliminary round, have a big date with the 2016 CAF Champions League winners for a place in the group stages of the competition.

Speaking to ACLSports ahead of the mouthwatering clash, Ngenge spoke about getting a chance to play for the NPFL champions, the impact Daniel Ogunmodede has made on him after the setbacks with the CHAN team back in August.

“It is a privilege to be among the defending champions of the NPFL,” Ngenge stated in a chat. “I am opportuned to be around them and play with them. They have players with good quality, high standards, high mentality, and good spirits. I actually love the fact that I am here.”

“It is actually a pleasure to make an appearance for the Sky Blues Stars, and I am going to say thanks to Daniel Ogunmodede for believing in me. He helped me get through the setback from the CHAN tournament, and some of my teammates that we went together. Coach Dan brought me in, gave me an opportunity again, and not everyone could do that. He helped me get through one of the most traumatizing moments of my life.”

The former Ikorodu City defender went on to speak about the clash with Sundowns, stressing the readiness of the squad, as well as the desire to get a win in the first leg on Sunday.

“I am looking forward to the CAF Champions League game against Sundowns. It is another great opportunity for me from the club and Coach Daniel, and we are all up for it. We have got our heads together, our hearts, our minds together, and a positive team spirit to win. We are Remo Stars, we want to work together, and we intend to take the win,” the teenager concluded.

Remo Stars, Nigerian champions, will face Mamelodi Sundowns, South African champions, on Sunday at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta. The game has been scheduled to kick-off by 4pm.
