Four teams have qualified for the semi finals at the ongoing final 8 of the 2017 Kwese Premier Basketball League in Kano.

The competition which started on Sunday September 3, involve four teams each from the two conferences, Atlantic and Savannah.

Kano Pillars, Gombe Bulls, Niger Potters and Plateau Peaks made it from Savannah Conference while Kwara Falcons, Rivers Hoopers, Hoops & Read and Nigeria Customs qualified from Atlantic Conference.

Hoopers failed to honour the final 8 following their sponsors decision to adhere to the letter sent to clubs by the Musa Kida-led NBBF board not participate in the final 8 organised by the Tijani Umar led board.

Consequently, Oluyole Warriors were asked to replace the two time champions of the Nigeria Basketball League at this year’s final 8 in Kano.

Group A had Kwara Falcons, Plateau Peaks, Hoops & Read and Niger Potters while Kano Pillars, Gombe Bulls, Nigeria Customs and Oluyole Warriors were paired in Group B.

After three games played, Gombe Bulls and Kano Pillars progressed from Group B while Kwara Falcons and Hoops & Read progressed from Group A.

Kwara Falcons who finished as Group A winners will meet defending champions Kano Pillars while Group B winners, Gombe Bulls will take on new boys Hoops & Read in the semifinals to be played on Thursday, September 7.

The finals of the 2017 Kwese Premier Basketball League will take place on Saturday September 9 at the indoor sports hall of the Sani Abacha stadium, Kano.
