Handball: Rising Stars, Future Pro in surprise wins on Day 6

Rising Stars of Abuja and Future Pro of Ogun State surprisingly won their games against strong opponents at the ongoing National Under-18 and 21 Handball Championship in Lagos.

Rising Stars defeated Lagos 24-22 against all odds in the Under-21 female game while Kwara State suffered a shocking defeat in the hands of Future Pro 40-39 in the male Under-21game.

In the first game of day six, Rising Stars and Lagos Under-21 female team drew 13-13 in the first half. The second half was postponed till 3pm due to heavy down pour in the morning.

Upon resumption, Ayo Joshua led-Rising Stars dominated every minute of the game as Lagos lost clear cut chances.
The technical crew of both teams were kept on their toes but Rising Stars took the day with 30 seconds remaining in the game as they won 24-22.

Meanwhile, Future Pro won their first game in the Under-21 male category against Kwara State. Future Pro left it late to beat their opponent 40-39 in a highly tensed game.

Future Pro almost threw away the game after they led Kwara State by with six points before a furious coach Isiaka Olorunisola cautioned his team. There was wild jubilation after the final whistle of the game.

In the male Under-21 game, Rising Stars of Abuja compounded the woes of Nasarawa State beating them 35-18 in a one sided game.

U-18 male: Future Pro v Mindscope (8am)
U-21 male: Future Pro v Lagos (9:30pm)
U-21 female: Future Pro v FCT (2pm)
U-18 male: Lagos State vs Kogi state (3:30pm)
