Ligue 1 enters week seven this weekend, with league leaders, Paris Saint-Germain’s perfect start to the campaign set to be tested with a tricky away tie, while defending champions, As Monaco will be hoping that Radamel Falcao’s form will continue.
Nice vs Angers
Lucien Favre side go into this weekend’s round of matches hoping to continue their brilliant form, having also won last weekend following the 1-0 defeat of Rennes.
They face an Angers side still searching for their second win of the campaign, since the opening day win over Amiens.
Lille vs Monaco
Radamel Falcao will be looking to inspire another Monaco win, having done so last weekend when his brace in their 3-0 win over Strasbourg saw him become that first man in 40 years to score eight goals in the opening six matches in the league.
Their opponents, coached by Marcelo Bielsa, continue to struggle and Falcao will be hoping to add to their problems when Monaco visit this weekend.
The home side currently sit 17th on the table and face a herculean task when they host Monaco with a rampaging Falcao, whose 9 goals this season have come from just 10 shots on target.
Montpellier vs PSG
Early pace setters, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) travel to Montpellier well conscious of what happened the last time they visited, and wary of a repeat.
Unai Emery’s men were thrashed 3-0 the last time they visited Strasbourg, and they travel there looking to protect their perfect start to the campaign.
However, if they are to avoid another defeat, then, they will have to forget about the penalty incident in their last match against Lyon, when Edinson Cavani and new signing, Neymar , had an argument as to who would take the penalty kick.
Bordeaux vs Guingamp
Bordeaux are at home to Guingamp, with their unbeaten run set to be tested against a side hoping for a first consecutive win of the season, while 9th placed Caen are also at home to Amiens, with both teams hoping to bounce back from their defeats last weekend.
Lyon are at home and hope to bounce back following their 2-0 defeat to PSG last week when they host Dijon, who are languishing in relegation waters.
This will be the fifth time they’d be facing each other, but Lyon have the advantage, having won three of their last four encounters.
Bottom club, Metz host Troyes in better shape, after registering their first points of the season following a 2-0 defeat of Angers on Sunday.
For the visitors, they are still without a win, having last four and drawn two of their opening six.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, third placed Saint-Etienne, who have only lost once this season, to PSG, will be at home to Rennes, with just a win in six games, while Claudio Ranieri’s and has rejuvenated Nantes side take a trip to Strasbourg hoping to continue their newly found form, which sees them on a four-match unbeaten run.
Strasbourg are on a three-match losing streak at the moment, and host a side they have only beaten five times in 24 matches between them.
The last match of the week will see Marseille entertain Toulouse at the Stade Velodrome, with the away team looking to bounce back from their loss to Bordeaux last weekend.
Marseille have won their last two matches for the first time this season, and will go into this encounter in confident mood.
