Owena Kings beat Kano Pillars 27-26 to remain in the Prudent Energy Handball League. It was a hard fought match, Owena Kings led the first half 16-12 but almost threw away the game in the second half on match day 9.

Owena Kings would have been relegated if they either drew or lost the match against Kano Pillars.

The head coach of Owena Kings, Tommy Olalude said his boys promised to win the game before the kick off. Olalude revealed that his technical department studied the weaknesses of Kano Pillars and capitalised on it.

He said, “Well, we thank God for everything; you know I told you some days ago that they boys were affected by fatigue. Having watched Kano Pillars matches several times, we sat down and discussed what to do to defeat them.

“And I thank God today that at the end of the day, we triumphed. Due to the determination of my boys, they promised me that they will win this game”.

The Ondo tactician told www.aclsports.com that his team will be better prepared for next year’s premier league.

“I told them to put the ball into the net, not to be in a hurry, ensure that they rally the ball round and whosoever is shooting the ball must make sure he is putting the ball into the back of the net.

“I and the boys will go back home and prepare fully for next year’s premier league”, he said.
