Handball: Lagos Seasiders overpower Delta Force

Lagos Seasiders came back from behind to beat Delta Force 32-30 at the ongoing 4th Sam Ocheho Invitational Handball Championship holding at Rowe Park Sports Complex, Yaba, Lagos.

Delta Force dominated the first half of the game, overpowering the Lagos seasiders 15-11.

But the Seasiders who have proved themselves a force to reckon with in the game of handball thrilled spectators with their beautiful jumpshots and fast breaks and leaving no one in doubt about their mission in the match as they eventually won the game in the second half.

Another explosive match that captured the fancy of the fans at the Park was that between Kogi Pillars and Ghana Navy which ended 42-24 in favour of the Kogi Pillars.

The Owena boys of Ondo State in the third match of the day, defeated Winneba of Ghana by 44-23 points.

In the female category, Imo grasshoppers humbled Delta Force by 33-12 points in a one sided game.

Reacting to their victory yesterday, Chief coach of the Lagos seasiders, Agboola Shittu commended his boys for their fighting spirit through out the first and second halves.

“My boys have done us proud because Delta Force were the favorite before the start of the game”, he said.

“The first half was terrible as the Delta Force players were everywhere but we corrected our minor mistakes in the second half and the game was won in the last three minutes”, Shittu told aclsports.com.
