Congo’s Saheed Idowu fantasy season continued on Friday as he beat topped ranked Nigeria Segun Toriola 4-2 in the quarterfinal of the Top 16 Cup in Nairobi Kenya.
Idowu sailed 11-6, 4-11, 11-9, 6-11, 11-9, 12-10 against the 2002 Commonwealth Games Gold medalist.
Ibadan born player meets Egypt’s Omar Assar, the top seed; he booked his semifinal place courtesy of success against Tunisia’s Thaeur Mamia (11-9, 11-6, 12-10, 10-12, 11-3).
An elated Idowu believed no one was unbeatable in the sport before he faced the veteran.
Idowu said; “I’m feeling very happy not only happy because I won but I beat a very intelligent and experienced player. I’m much better than before and I believe that no one is unbeatable.
“I had no nerves before the match, surprisingly. I think I was pretty clear about how I wanted to play the match. I started off very well and relaxed from then on”.
“My match against Assar, I’ll try my possible best and leave the rest”, he said.
Idowu will not be at the Commonwealth Games in Gold coast, Australia next April.
I’m very happy to see you performing GREAT, GOD ALMIGHTY ALLAH at your side name sake.
I’m very glad, hope to see him (Saheed Idowu) in final. Wish him good luck.
