Super Falcons forward Gift Monday, extended her impressive run in the NWSL on Sunday evening, netting her fourth goal of the season to help Washington Spirit secure a 3-1 home victory over North Carolina Courage, www.aclsports.com reports.

Monday made her mark during her 74-minute outing, rising to meet a Narumi Miura cross in the 58th minute and heading in the Spirit’s third goal. The strike capped a solid performance and brought her season tally to four goals and one assist from eight games.

The Spirit opened the scoring in the 24th minute through Courtney Brown, who netted her first goal of the season. Minutes later, Brittany Ratcliffe doubled the lead with a clever header from a Casey Krueger delivery.

The Courage responded in the 31st minute when Manaka Matsukubo chipped Spirit goalkeeper Aubrey Kingsbury to cut the deficit, but Monday’s goal restored the two-goal cushion and ensured Washington extended their unbeaten run to four matches.

With the win, the Spirit move level on points with Orlando Pride but remain in third place due to an inferior goal difference in the NWSL standings.

Up next for Gift Monday and Washington Spirit is an away clash against Portland Thorns FC on Sunday, June 15, 2025.

She will be hoping to maintain her fantastic form and earn a call-up to the Super Falcons for the 2024 WAFCON , set to take place next month.
