Super Falcons forward Gift Monday has moved to Boston Legacy from Washington Spirit in a $500,000 trade, www.aclsports.com reports.
The NWSL clubs announced the deal on Thursday, with Washington also securing a 20 per cent sell-on clause that would see the Spirit receive a share if Monday is transferred or traded to another club in the future.
Monday spent the past two seasons with Washington after arriving from Spanish side UD Tenerife in March 2025. She made 48 appearances across all competitions, scoring 12 goals and providing three assists, while playing a key role in the Spirit’s run to the NWSL Championship last season.
The Nigerian forward scored twice in the playoffs and made NWSL history in September 2025 by scoring a hat-trick in 35 minutes and 52 seconds against Houston Dash, recording the fastest hat-trick in league history from kick-off.
At international level, Monday made her Super Falcons debut in 2019 and was included in Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She has also been called up for the national team’s upcoming Olympic qualifying matches against Comoros.
Boston Legacy FC General Manager Domè Guasch said:
“Gift brings a unique set of qualities as a forward that will add another dimension to our attack. She will contribute to our high press, create opportunities and be dangerous in the final third. She’s also a team player, and that matters to us as much as her quality on the pitch.”
