Ghana Navy Handball Club player, Ebenezer Abbey  has boldly set his sights on winning the 2025 Greater Accra Handball League (GAHA) title.

Ghana Navy Handball Club emerged third place at the 2025 Greater Accra Handball League (GAHA).

In an exclusive interview with www.aclsports.com Abbey shared his aspirations, emphasizing his commitment to working hard for both his country and club.

Abbey, who has had a steadily improving career, is passionate about winning titles for his club while simultaneously seeking to build his handball career on an international scale.

“I want to win the Greater Accra Handball League (GAHA) title this season (2025), I have worked tirelessly as a player and the only way to crown my efforts is to win titles. I also want to build my handball career professionally in other well-to-do countries,” he stated.

Reflecting on 2024, Abbey acknowledged that the year was a significant one for Ghana, especially with the nation hosting the African Games for the first time.

“It was a good year for the country,” he said. “We hosted the African Games for the first time, even though we were hoping for better placement in our games. But we thank God for that gesture.”

The Naval Officer said the path to success has been difficult as a young handball player.

“It has been very challenging. The best you could do for yourself is train hard with determination, zeal, and confidence, which will lead you to the hope of being enlisted in one of the security services’ handball teams. These teams are well to do and offer a good living.”

Abbey’s experience has been enriched through his participation in the African Military Games 2024, where he not only had the opportunity to compete but also formed friendships with fellow athletes and military personnel.

“The African Military Games were very sociable; we made a lot of game friends and military ones too.”

Abbey revealed his favorite Nigerian dish is swallow and egusi, a staple that brings comfort and a taste of home during his travels.

Ebenezer Abbey won the maiden Oguaa Fetu Afahye Handball Championship with Ghana Navy Handball Team in 2024.
