Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz believes there is no perfect team and so expects his Black Stars side to exploit the weakness in Colombia when they face on Friday, www.aclsports.com reports.
The Black Stars of Ghana go into the FIFA World Cup 2026 round of 32 clash with South Americans Colombia as the underdogs but Queiroz is unfazed by La Tricolor’s unbeaten group stage run.
“What we have to do is to play our game and measure our strengths against the weak areas that Colombia might have,” began the former Colombia national team coach at the pre-match press conference on Thursday.
“There are no perfect teams so we will look to explore their weaknesses too. We have to be strong in our play and in mentality. It is going to be a great game regardless of the result.”
Ghana captain Jordan Ayew who has come under fire from Black Stars fans also noted that the team’s defeat to Croatia was a rare occasion and that will not repeat itself against Colombia.
Ayew also dismissed insinuations that Colombia are overwhelming favourites especially as they are ranked higher than Ghana after an exceptional group stage campaign.
“The Croatia game is a one-off and we are ready to show that on Friday. I am confident that with what the manager has told us, we will be ready to face Colombia.
“Every game is 50-50 regardless of how the teams rank before the game so we are focused on playing our game and getting a good result,” said Ayew.
Queiroz also confirmed that only defender Kojo Peprah Oppong is unavailable for the game billed for the Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on Friday night (1:30am in Ghana).
