Nigeria U20 side, also known as the Flying Eagles, beat their Australian counterparts 3-1 in their final warm-up game on Tuesday, www.aclsports.com reports.

Thanks to goals from Tahir Maigana, Orseer Achihi, and Charles Agada, the Flying Eagles increased their confidence ahead of the 24th FIFA U20 World Cup finals that start this weekend.

After a stalemate with hosts Chile some days ago, Aliyu Zubair’s side ended their preparations with a comfortable win over the Australians at the game decided at the Complejo Deportivo Ruca Mapu in Santiago, Chile.

It was quite a cagey first half, but Nigeria got their noses in front through Maigana’s goal before Achihi Oseer added a second for the Flying Eagles. However, the Australians halved the deficit just before the break, as the half came to an end with Nigeria in the lead.

Upon restart, Nigeria continued to dominate possession and create several chances. However, the game’s final goal, and Nigeria’s third, came from substitute Charles Agada six minutes from time.

It was a well-deserved win for Aliyu Zubair’s men, who will now look forward to their tournament opener against Norway on September 29 in Talca.
