Three time Commonwealth, Olympic and World Record holder, Esther Oyema leads a powerful Nigeria squad of World, Commonwealth and Olympic Champions at this year’s Africa Championships in Algiers, Algeria.

The Africa Championships billed for Algeria from 6th to 13th August also serves as qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics Games.

Rio Olympics medallists on arrival back home

The list: Commonwealth Games gold medallists, Roland Ezuruike, Kehinde Paul and Lucy Ejike as well as Gold Coast 2018 silver medallists Ibrahim Dauda, Olaitan Ibrahim and Latifat Tijani; World Record holder, Shade Oluwafemiayo got a call to represent the country on her journey to qualification while London 2012 gold medallist is looking for revenge against Egypt’s Randa Mahmoud, who she lost to in the women’s over 86kg at Mexico City 2017.

Others are: former World Champion, Yakubu Adesokun; Rio bronze medalist; lnnocent Nnamdi and Bose Omolayo as well as Paulina Ebere Okpara.

The Vice President of Nigeria Para Powerlifting Federation, Ruel Ishiaku, the Secretary General, the Head Coach; Prince Are Feyisetan and assistant caoch Kemi Oyebola.

Nigeria ended top of the medals table at Rio 2016 Paralympics and second to China at the 2017 World Championships.
