Barbra Banda double sinks Germany as Zambia head to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup (FIFAWWC) in high spirit.

Captain of the Zambia women’s national team, Barbra Banda scored twice as Zambia defeated two time World Champions, Germany in a thrilling encounter as both teams wrap up their preparation for the FIFAWWC later this month.

Germany, head into the FIFAWWC ranked second in the World but we’re undone by mistakes which Zambia, World no. 77, capitalised on courtesy of a Barbra Banda double, to inflict a shocking defeat on the former World Champions.

Barbra Banda and Racheal Kundananji both scored in the 48th and 50th minute to give the Copper Queens a two goal lead into stoppage time.

While it looked like Zambia were coasting to a comfortable victory over the 2023 FIFAWWC favorites, little did everyone know there was more drama to come as both teams scored three goals in 12 minutes of added time.

It all began with Lea Schuller pulling one back for the Germans with a header in the first minute of added time. Then Alexander Popp got the fans going with the equalizer in the 90th +10 minute.

Only to be caught out by yet another mistake which saw Barbra Banda double her tally in the game. She chased down an inch perfect through pass from midfield beating the last German defender in a foot race before brilliantly chipping the on rushing German goalkeeper to make it 3-2 to Zambia in the final minute of added time.
