18 players resume U20 camp ahead of IHF Trophy Africa

A total of 18 players have resumed camp ahead of the 2024 IHF Trophy Africa Zone 3 Phase in Ghana from 20th to 24th February, www.aclsports.com gathered.

According to the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), the players are currently training at the Rowe Park Sports Centre at Yaba, Lagos under the guidance of Coach Fidelis Obi.

Faruk Yusuf (Club Balonmano Granollers) who won the Most Valuable Player against Cameroon at the recently concluded African Nations Cup made the 18-man list while new sensation, John Shagari (Niger United) was not left out.

Former National U18 stars, Akorede Kuti (TojeMarine); Olumide Ojo (Adidja HC) and Kareem Ajibike (TojeMarine) will be hoping to cement their play in the Junior National team.

The head coach, Fidelis Obi will be assisted by Innocent Chukwuma (Safety Shooters).

Nigeria will begin their title defence against Liberia on February 20th while seeking to better their performance at the Continental stage.

The U20 team will face Benin Republic, Cote’d’voire, Ghana, Liberia and Togo in a round robin tournament.
