Edo Queens stayed top of the NWFL Premiership Super Six standings after defeating Rivers Angels 2-1 on Matchday 4, while Bayelsa Queens returned to winning ways, www.aclsports.com reports.

At the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, Edo Queens extended their winning run to three consecutive matches.

They took the lead in the South-South derby in the 39th minute through Precious Oscar, who continued her impressive impact as a substitute by scoring her third goal of the tournament.

Rivers Angels responded after the restart, with substitute Abasiofon Uwah scoring the equaliser in the 72nd minute. Her strike was Uwah’s 12th league goal of the season, leaving her one behind Atume Doosuur in the race for the golden boot.

Edo Queens restored their advantage five minutes later through Chioma Moses, whose 77th-minute finish secured a 2-1 victory. Moses’ seventh goal in four matches helped Moses Aduku’s side continue their strong run in the competition, moving closer to reclaiming the trophy they last won two seasons ago.

Bayelsa Queens kept their title defence on track with a crucial 2-0 victory over FC Robo Queens in the other fixture of the day.

The defending champions made the perfect start as Kindness Ifeanyi struck inside the opening minute to put them ahead. The goal was Ifeanyi’s seventh league goal of the season.

FC Robo Queens struggled to find a response, and Bayelsa Queens sealed the win in the closing stages when substitute Ojiyovwi Kesiena doubled their advantage in the 83rd minute with her first touch of the game.

The result strengthened Bayelsa Queens’ title challenge heading into the final round of matches.

Abia Angels and Nasarawa Amazons played out a goalless draw in the second Matchday 4 fixture.

Nasarawa Amazons created the better chances but were unable to find a breakthrough, with the game’s biggest moment coming deep into stoppage time. In the 90+2nd minute, Adaobi Okah had the chance to secure all three points from the penalty spot, but struck the crossbar as Abia Angels held on for a valuable point.

The result means coach Christopher Danjuma’s side have now gone two games without a win after opening the tournament with back-to-back victories.

With one round of matches remaining, Edo Queens remain top of the Super Six standings with nine points. Bayelsa Queens climb to second on goal difference, while Nasarawa Amazons drop to third, with both teams level on seven points. Abia Angels remain fourth with four points, while Rivers Angels and FC Robo Queens occupy fifth and sixth respectively.

The title race will be decided on Sunday, 14 June, with Nasarawa Amazons facing Rivers Angels needing a win and hoping other results go their way. Abia Angels take on FC Robo Queens, while Bayelsa Queens meet Edo Queens in a decisive clash that will determine the 2025/2026 NWFL Premiership champions.
