Nigeria U17 women’s Head Coach, Bankole Olowookere, has listed Bayelsa Queens midfielder Shakirat Moshood and 20 others in his final squad for this month’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, www.aclsports.com reports.
The playmaker, who was one of Nigeria’s standout performers at the last tournament in the Dominican Republic, scoring four goals, just one short of the competition’s top scorer, will lead the team in Morocco as Bankole’s side aim to make history.
Also listed are goalkeeper Sylvia Echefu, defender Jumai Adebayo, and forward Queen Joseph, who impressed during the team’s build-up matches, alongside Elizabeth Boniface, Azeezat Oduntan, Christiana Sunday, Muinat Rotimi, Zainab Raji, and Mariam Yahaya.
The Flamingos arrived in Casablanca on Wednesday for the final phase of preparations ahead of the competition, which will take place 17th October – 8th November.
Drawn in Group D with Canada, France, and Samoa, Nigeria will open their campaign against Canada on October 19, face France on October 22 (both at 8 p.m.), and wrap up against Samoa on October 25 at 5 p.m.
Coach Olowookere, who guided Nigeria’s Flamingos to a historic bronze medal at the 2022 edition in India, will once again lead the team as they aim to go all the way in Morocco
